Having spent most of my adult life thus far in the theatre and adventure travel realms (neither of which are particularly financially lucrative), I’ve had to get creative about creating access points into these various textile arts that can sometimes be cost-prohibitive and not the most eco-friendly. Whether you’re here to get some inspiration, find ways to make things with a minimal impact on our earth, find ideas for doable access points into the craft world, to support (thank you!), or even just to browse quietly, I’m so happy you’re here and hopefully you’ll find your own way to be curious and make things!

Welcome to Sticks and Strings! Maybe you’ve come here to join in, learn something new, get inspiration, or just follow along as I spiral further and further into the world of textile art. Whatever the reason, I’m glad you’re here!

If you don’t know me yet, I’m Tali. I’ve spent my life learning and being fascinated by one thing or another. Years of school left me with a constant desire to dive deeper into things that pique my interest. Years of working in theatre left me with a deep love and appreciation of art. Years of travel left me in awe of nature and the world around us. A lifetime of being an introvert has left me with a deep desire to move a bit more slowly, quietly, and consciously than the world around me. When I can, I like finding, flipping, and foraging to make nature-conscious and nature-inspired work.  Somehow all these different paths have led me here, to my journey through textile art and creating in a nature-friendly way.

So not only am I here to share my art, successes and failures, learnings, and inspirations, but I’m also here to help you find your own access points and help you jump over hurdles you may encounter if that’s what you’d like.

If you want to support me (either by buying something or even with a kind word) I’d be incredibly honoured. Or if you want just quietly to browse, you are more than welcome to do that too!
